My husband, Joe, loves blueberries. He’ll go through about 60 lbs of blueberries in a year so we have a lot of picking and freezing to do! We headed out to Grandma & Grandpa’s Farm, Kokopelli House, to pick. Grandma is an master picker and she’s fast! She has picked everything that grows in the Willamette Valley. As a young girl her summers were spent picking blueberries, raspberries, pole beans, strawberries, whatever the fields around Junction City, Oregon could offer.
We picked 21 lbs of blueberries that day.
I was grateful to have my camera along. I’ve been lamenting at how little drawing and painting I’ve been able to do this summer. Ms. Muse has reminded me on numerous occasions to get over it. She says that I’m always painting – even if it’s in my head. Funny, my dear friend and mentor, Ted Katz, says that, too (wonder if they’re related).
And, truly, I have really enjoyed photography again. The last time I really got into photography was with my friend and Smith College professor, Carl Chiarenza back in the early 80’s. I just love my little Nikon Coolpix S10.
