I’ve been thinking a lot about memory. Given that a memory is something that takes place in the past can we truly recall that original event?
We are no longer experiencing that original moment in time. We are now recalling what we think happened or maybe what we wanted (or didn’t want) to happen.
I was at the coast earlier this week taking pictures on my iPhone with my macro lens. At one point I forgot to take the lens off and ended up with a very blurry picture. I laughed because, being nearsighted, this is how I see the world without my glasses. But I also realized that many times this is also how I experience a memory. It’s not truly a detailed recapture of the original event but an impression.
