I don’t know what it is but everytime my dogwood tree (Cornus florida) goes into bloom I get excited. It’s just a very elegant tree with lots of personality. I love the incredible color, the shape of the petals, the way the branches bend and twist unpredictably. It’s just a very lovable tree.
A fresh face.
It was so relaxing to sit in the dappled sunlight and sketch the blossoms. I used a graphite pencil and Koh-I-Noor woodless pencils. Taking each element apart from the whole is always such a trip when doing a botanical drawing. I get to see how perfect nature truly is.
