Yesterday was one of those spectacular fall days. The air was crisp, the sky blue, the sunlight glowing and vivid colors everywhere I turned!
The flaming trees against the brilliant blue sky were incredible.
I finished my morning walk in my neighbor’s back yard. Bob and Myrtle are in their 90’s. Bob has emphysema and yet, every year he manages to create new dahlia hybrids and plant hundreds of them. When we first moved here eight years ago he planted 1500 dahlias! It looked like someone flicked colorful paint all over the field.
As I walked around on the soft, wet earth and took pictures, it dawned on me that dahlias are the fashionistas of the flower world! Can’t you just see petal hair and fancy hats topping a delicate face?
This beautiful girl was just shrouded in luscious, dew dropped folds of pink fabric…imagine her gown of the finest satin.
I was so taken with the way the petals fell over one another I couldn’t resist another shot.
And, oh, how they loved the sunshine…just like stage lights. Some were a bit shy like this bright yellow girl. I almost expected a gingham petticoat peeping out beneath her skirts!
And this bold, orange beauty looks like she’s enjoying a breezy ride in a convertible along Highway 101!
And this sophisticated pink beauty was perfectly poised…head demurely turned with a come pick me look in her eye.
I just loved this creamsicle flavored gal. She was so bold and ready to face anything!
Gorgeous!!! Thanks for taking for a walk 🙂
